Many ISPs have downstream ILL connectivity where 90–95% of available uplink capacity may remain under-utilized. Urmic.org provides an opportunity for ISPs to use this existing network capacity for content distribution and CDN services.
How It Works
When a broadcaster uses an Urmic.org-supported encoder, the broadcaster’s content is delivered to an Urmic CDN server. The CDN server receives the data once and distributes it efficiently across the network and to destinations worldwide.
This reduces unnecessary repeated upstream traffic while allowing participating ISPs to make better use of their existing network infrastructure.

Billing & Commercial Responsibility
All commercial billing between the ISP and broadcaster is handled directly by the ISP.
Urmic.org does not act as the billing intermediary between the ISP and broadcaster unless separately agreed under a specific service arrangement.
Network Operations
The participating ISP remains responsible for its network infrastructure, connectivity, security, and operational maintenance. The ISP’s NOC team handles day-to-day network operations.
Urmic.org provides the required CDN software, technical documentation, and training to help the ISP’s team deploy and manage the CDN infrastructure.
Data & Content Liability
The broadcaster is responsible for the content and data it distributes, including all applicable rights, permissions, licenses, regulatory requirements, and legal obligations.
The ISP is responsible for operating its network and CDN infrastructure in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and its own operational policies.
